He held her so close to him,
as they stood there alone.
The water glistened,
The moon shone.
She got up her courage,
And pushed him away.
She can't be with him,
Doesn't know what else to say.
And she leaves him standing there,
By himself at the lake.
He held back his tears,
Though his heart did break.
He takes out the letter,
On the envelope is her name.
He let's it go,
Because she'll never feel the same.
Maybe someone will happen to find it,
And they may appreciate it's gentle words.
